Not every bad window needs full window replacement, and this page is the honest half of that sentence. If your frame is sound and the problem is the glass — a crack from a mower rock, a fogged double-pane unit, a shattered patio pane — a glass-only replacement swaps the sealed insulated glass unit (IGU) and leaves the frame in place, typically at half the cost or less.
Fogged glass is Temple’s most common version: 1990s and 2000s builder-grade double-pane windows are reaching seal-failure age by the thousands across Bell County subdivisions. The white haze between panes means the seal and gas fill are gone. A new IGU restores the insulation and the view without touching the frame.
The measuring visit is free and quotes both paths where both are viable — you pick with real numbers in hand. If the answer turns out to be full replacement, the vinyl replacement page covers what that looks like.

(254) 500-2450Yes. The sealed glass unit (IGU) lifts out of most frames and a new unit goes in — typically at a fraction of full window replacement cost. It is the right fix for fogged or cracked double-pane glass in frames that are square, sound and reasonably modern.
The perimeter seal failed and moist air got between the panes — the fog is condensation you can never wipe off. It means the insulating gas is gone too, so the window is no longer performing thermally. The fix is a new sealed unit (glass-only) or, if the frame is old aluminum or failing anyway, full replacement.
Usually by half or more per opening. The honest decision rule: sound frame + fogged or broken glass = glass-only; rotted, warped or single-pane-era frame = full window replacement, because you would be putting new glass into a failing assembly. A measuring visit tells you which side each window is on.
Single-pane glass cuts are often same-week; sealed double-pane units are manufactured to size and typically run one to three weeks. Broken openings get boarded or sealed in the meantime — same process as our storm-damage work.
